Privacy Policy
CivicTest.AI · Published by Labs305 · Effective: April 25, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information CivicTest.AI ("the App", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible and keep what we do collect on your device whenever we can.
Who we are
CivicTest.AI is published by Labs305, a company based in Florida, USA. For any privacy-related question, contact us at Hello@labs305.com.
What we collect
- ZIP code. You enter your ZIP code so we can show you your local U.S. representatives. Your ZIP is stored locally on your device using iOS Secure Store and is not sent to our servers.
- Test answers and progress. Your scores, starred questions, and study history live only on your device. We do not have access to them.
- Subscription status. When you purchase Basic, Pro+, or Lifetime through Apple's In-App Purchase system, Apple shares your purchase status with us so we can unlock the right features. We do not see your payment details — Apple processes those directly.
- AI grading requests. When the App's local matcher is unsure whether your answer is correct, the App sends the question and your typed answer to our backend, which forwards it to Anthropic's Claude API for grading. The request does not include your name, email, or any device identifier.
- Officials lookup. When you enter your ZIP for the first time, the App looks up your current U.S. Senators and House Representative via the official Congress.gov API and via Anthropic's Claude (web-search-enabled). Only your state and ZIP are sent for this purpose.
- Anonymous usage events. If you allow it, we record anonymous in-app events (e.g. "test started", "limit reached", "upgrade tapped") through PostHog so we can improve the App. These events do not include your name, email, ZIP code, or test answers.
- Feedback messages. When you use the in-app "Report a problem" button, the message you type is sent to our inbox via Formspree. If you include an email address voluntarily, we use it only to reply to you.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not require you to create an account.
- We do not collect your real name, phone number, postal address, or government IDs.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, calendars, or health data.
- We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
- We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.
Service providers we use

- Supabase — backend hosting for the AI proxy that securely forwards grading requests to Anthropic.
- Anthropic — AI grading and officials lookup, via the Claude API.
- RevenueCat — manages your subscription state across devices.
- PostHog — anonymous in-app analytics.
- Formspree — relays in-app feedback messages to our inbox.
- Congress.gov — official source for current U.S. Senators and Representatives.
Each provider has its own privacy policy. We share with them only the information described above, only when needed to provide the corresponding feature.
Children
CivicTest.AI is intended for adults preparing for the U.S. naturalization interview. The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has used the App, contact us and we will help.
Your rights
Because almost everything stays on your device, you can erase all your data simply by deleting the App. For information held by our service providers (such as your subscription receipts at Apple, or anonymous events at PostHog), you can request deletion or a copy by emailing Hello@labs305.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Security
Communication between the App and our backend is encrypted with HTTPS. Our Anthropic API key is held only as a server-side secret on our backend; it is never embedded in the App. We do not store your test answers on our servers.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy materially, we will revise the "Effective" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
